Obituary for William Gray Davis

William Gray Davis, 86, of Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Communities of Indian Haven. He was married to the late Edith (Matko) Davis until her death in 2012.
Born July 3, 1928 in Latrobe, Bill was the son of the late William P. and Mary (Gray) Davis.

He was a graduate of Latrobe High School and worked as an engineer for Bell Telephone. Bill was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army.

He was a member and former deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Clymer.

William is survived by his three children: William “Bill” A. Davis and his wife, Candy of Greenville, SC; Bonita “Bonnie” Wess and her husband, Ty, of Greer, SC; and Patricia “Patti” D. George and her husband, Mark, of Indiana. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Davis of Ligonier and brother-in-law, Edward Matko and his wife Nancy, of Harrison City. The following grandchildren survive him: David Wess and wife Tonia; Stephen Wess and wife Tammi; Julie Wolsieffer and husband Dan; Neal George and wife Amy; Olivia George and fiancé Diaz; and Alexander George and wife Nicole. Fourteen great-grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Edith, as well as the following siblings: Betty Hauger, Jean Nace, Ron Davis, Paul Gray and Ted Gray.

Friends will be received at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home of Indiana, 965 Philadelphia St. on Friday, March 27 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. On Saturday, March 28, viewing will be held from 10 to 11AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Clymer, where his funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Rev. Daryl Jeffers will officiate. Interment will be private at Oakland Cemetery in Indiana.
