Obituary for Hazel Winifred "Winnie" Marsh (Thornton )

Hazel Winifred “Winnie” (Thornton) Marsh, 71, of Mt. View Rd., Penn Run, PA., died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at UPMC Pittsburgh.



She is the daughter of Charles Wesley and Arlene (Neeley) Thornton, born on August 7, 1938 in Mentcle, PA.



Winnie married Rev. Robert H. Marsh on April 12, 1957. Together they started the Independent Clymer Gospel Mission on May 4, 1958 and the Mountain View Heights Haven Home in January 1975.



She is survived by seven children, Clarence and friend Dawn and her son Zakk of Indiana; Robert Edward of Penn Run; Karen and husband Donald Sensabaugh of Commodore; Eunice Ann and Timothy both of Penn Run; Eileen and husband Ronald of Marrerro, LA; Carolee Marsh of Ashburn, VA; eight granddaughters and one grandson, Quinetta and Dallas Buterbaugh; Christina and David Yoder; Erica and James Methven; Lynne and Eric Painter; Danielle and Natasha Marsh; Denise and Shaun Wyer; Bobbie Jo Buterbaugh and Mike Hunkler; and Tony Marsh; two great-granddaughters, Chace and Cassidy Buterbaugh; seven great-grandsons, Dereck Yoder; Austin and Cameron Yoder; William and James Methven; Emmanuel McMillen and Landon Wyer; and three great-grandchildren on the way; one sister, Thelma Phillips; two brothers, Ronald and wife Rhea Thornton and Richard and wife Shirley Thornton all of Clymer; Step-brother, Glenn and wife Shirley Propst and a step-sister-in-law, Joan Propst.



Winnie is also survived by special friends, Donna Pugh; Helen Coy; Sally Roof; Carolyn Long and a host of special nieces and nephews and cousins.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. Robert H. Marsh; one sister, Dorothy; step-mother, Mabel (Butler) Propst Thornton and one step-brother, Robert Propst.



Friends will be received on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 from 2-9 p.m. at the Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at the Independent Clymer Gospel Mission Church, Clymer with the Rev. Eugene Morris, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery.
