Obituary for Murray C. "Pete" Braughler

Murray C. “Pete” Braughler, 81, of Indiana, went home to be with his Saviour on Friday morning, January 22, 2010, at Good Shepherd Hospice, Winter Haven, FL.

Murray Calvin Braughler was born December 16, 1928 on the family farm, in rural Indiana, PA, son of B.R. and Wilda Hazel (Kinter Black) Braughler.

He attended Clymer schools for education before entering the US Marine Corps. When he came home, he married Marjorie Galbreath on May 30, 1958. They took up dairy farming on the Braughler Homestead and then worked for Fisher Scientific for many years. He later worked for Fairchild, Inc as a warehouse manager. Murray was active in 4-H when his sons were involved and later transferred that love of the farm to volunteering at the Indiana County Fair Association up until recently. Murray was involved in his local church, Calvary Baptist of Clymer as a trustee and then when the school was added, as a faithful volunteer on special days and events. For the past 10 years they became snowbirds in Winter Haven FL, added a whole new set of friends and attendance at Winter Haven Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL.



He is survived by wife, Marjorie, of 51 years, three sons, James and wife Heidi of Watertown, WI, Calvin of Indiana, and Bruce and wife Jo of New Glarus, WI, and two grandsons Samuel and Malachi, also of New Glarus, and one sister, Helen Salsgiver of Belleville, FL. as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and many friends across the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings, sisters Margaret (Peg) Black Scollon, Enola (Nonie) Lightner, and brother Darhl.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 26 from 2-8 p.m. at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home, Indiana. Additional visitation on Wednesday, from 10 to 11a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Clymer, with his funeral service following at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daryl Jeffers, officiating. Military rites provided by Clymer American Legion post 222.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Academy, 11394 Rt. 286 Hwy., Clymer, Pa. 15728.
