Robert G. “Rob” Grumbling, 60 of Heilwood, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home.

He was the son of Robert and Eleanora (Celenza) Grumbling, born on April 26, 1953, in Spangler, PA.
Rob was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood. He was a caring and loving father, son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend and was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone in need. Rob was a long-time employee of the Penns Manor School District, where he served as Superintendent of maintenance, facilities and grounds. The district was his pride and joy, and he spent much of his spare time after hours ensuring every aspect of the district was running properly and immaculately groomed. The pride and dedication to his work was clearly evident to all who had the opportunity to walk the halls or enjoy the grounds. Rob was also a gifted mechanic, electrician and carpenter. He could repair things when others said it was impossible. He loved hunting, spending time outdoors, repairing engines and caring for the family grounds.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Keith and husband Cody of Heilwood; his mother, Eleanora (Celenza) Grumbling of Heilwood; one sister, Traci Grumbling of Blairsville; a special aunt, Helen Louise “Weezie” Davis of Heilwood; cousins, Margo (Don) Inskeep of Bowie, MD; Jill (Bill) Eckenrode of Heilwood; Todd (Sandi) Davis of Heilwood; Uncle Mike Celenza of Northern Cambria; and Michelle and Maria and numerous second cousins and best friend, Ron Buterbaugh.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Grumbling in 2009; his maternal grandparents, Patsy and Elizabeth Celenza; his paternal grandparents, Vallie D. and Olive Grumbling and his special uncles, Gordon Davis and Harold Grumbling.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Clymer. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood with Fr. George Saltrik as celebrant. Interment will be made in the Carmon’s Bottom Cemetery.

Rob always said, “If you aren’t going to have pride in what you do and do all you can to do a job right, why do it at all.” He did it right always.
