Obituary for William R. Kegel

William R. Kegel, 60, of Indiana, PA, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.



A son of William G. and Jacqueline (Treacy) Kegel, he was born on April 13, 1949, in Centerville, Pennsylvania.



Mr. Kegel was a loving father and husband and member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church in Indiana. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. William worked as a research geologist and Vice President of Exotic Oil, a division of Royal Oil & Gas Co.



He is survived by his father of South Shores, North Carolina; his wife, Cara (Latinovich) Kegel of Indiana, PA; four children: William Zoltan and wife Louella of Indiana, PA; Ryan Thomas of Roanoke, Virginia; Sean Walter of Columbus, Ohio; and Danyele Patricia Kegel of Indiana, PA.



Also surviving are seven sisters and a brother: Kathy Ruscheck and husband George of Columbus, Ohio; Danyele Graham and husband H. Jeffrey of South Shores, North Carolina; Jackie Chisolm and husband Tom of South Shores, North Carolina; Janice Serene and husband Dr. Michael of Akron, Ohio; Madeline Foley and husband Gerard of Harrisburg, PA; Colleen Strahota and husband Michael of Wellsboro, PA; Lisa Patchen and husband Stephen of Corpus Christi, Texas; Brian Kegel and wife Amy of Wexford, PA; and 25 nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his mother.



Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Bence-Mihalcik Funeral Home in Indiana. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. William J. Kiel as celebrant. The Indiana VFW Post 1989 will conduct a flag presentation of military rites. Interment will be private.



His family requests memorial contributions be made to Animal Friends of Pittsburgh, 562 Camp Horne Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
